Steve’s family has owned this 58 acre property since before his stepdad, Carl Flinchum, was born— a short distance away, in a farmhouse which no longer stands. Steve enjoys caring for his property, camping by the river, building and working with his hands, watching westerns, and cooking and feeding people. He enjoys telling stories to folks in his animated manner in which only Steve can.

Laura has been a Pilot Mountain resident since 2020. She enjoys painting and renovating, working on old furniture, hiking, camping, fishing, and digging in the dirt. She helps Steve with the management of the Campsite. She also painted the signage of Carl along the road pointing the way to camp! 

Laura and Steve reside about ¼ mile walk from the campsites down Flinchum Lane, with Leo the shih-tzu, Murphy the shih-poo, George the standard poodle, Daisy the rescue mutt, Tully the Red Coon Mix, and Sophie the yorkiepoo.  Sophie is the self-appointed Mayor of Carl’s Campsites.
